Victorian personalised plates are managed by VicRoads through the VPlates platform. Victoria charges no annual fees on personalised plates — once you buy them, they are yours to keep with no ongoing costs. This makes VIC plates particularly attractive on the secondary market, as buyers know there are no hidden recurring charges.

To transfer a personalised plate in Victoria, both buyer and seller must complete a Transfer of Registration Number Plate Rights form. The transfer must be lodged within 14 days of the sale. Transfers can be processed at a VicRoads office or online through the VPlates portal.

Short combinations of three characters or fewer are among the most sought-after plates in Australia, prized for their rarity and visual impact.
