New South Wales personalised plates are managed through myPlates, a partnership between Transport for NSW and Plate Marketing. Unlike some states, NSW charges annual renewal fees on most personalised plate styles, so buyers should factor this ongoing cost into their purchase decision.
Transferring a personalised plate in NSW requires both parties to complete paperwork through Service NSW. The myPlates website provides transfer guides and current fee schedules for each plate style.
Heritage plates are among the rarest and most collectible in New South Wales. Low-digit combinations in particular can carry significant investment value, with auction results regularly reaching five and six figures.
